AMPHIBIANS AT JUGTOWN

April 17, 2019 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm

| $15.00

Location: Jugtown Mountain
Category: Nature Programs & Trips
Description

Ages: 5 through adult

Cost: $15

Guest Presenter: Allegra Mitchell, Conserve Wildlife Foundation of NJ

Vernal pools are small ponds that only exist in the spring or after rainfall during the rest of the year. They are vital for the life cycle of certain amphibians who spend only a few months as larvae, as the seasonal wet/dry cycle excludes predators like fish and bullfrog tadpoles. Join Allegra Mitchell, Wildlife Biologist with Conserve Wildlife Foundation of NJ, to learn about this fascinating habitat. After an overview of vernal pools, we will explore the pools at Jugtown and hope to catch frogs, insect larvae, and frog eggs. Please wear rain boots and bring flashlights. Meet at Jugtown Mountain Preserve, 408 Mine Road, Asbury. Please register in advance to ensure adequate participation.
